The cycle act with a gap
As early as 1903, Scientific American described it as the wildest version of looping the loop: the upper part of the track had simply been sawn away. Cycle acrobat Ugo Ancillotti therefore passed up and down through an open gap – a Paris act that Barnum & Bailey soon turned into poster art.

Poster with a vintage advertisement for Barnum & Bailey's Greatest Show on Earth, one of the most famous circuses in the world during the late 1800s and early 1900s.

The poster shows a breathtaking number, where a cyclist performs a dangerous loop on a bicycle through a large frame structure.
