Gothenburg’s First Harbour
When Aron Jonason took the photograph around 1890, Stora Hamnkanalen had already served Gothenburg for nearly 270 years. It was laid out in the 1620s as the city’s first harbour facility, allowing small boats and barges to enter while larger vessels had to remain out on the river.
