The illustrator's name was George Barbier and he was a very prominent artist from France celebrated by not least Vogue for his contribution to the world of fashion during the early 20th century.

Gustave Beer was a German designer with a successful fashion house on the Place Vendome in Paris in the late 1800s, early 1900s. He was especially known for his elegant dresses and exclusive underwear.
