The poster shows a drawing of a proposal for a new town hall that Carl Eberhard Carlberg presented in 1729. Carlberg was one of the most influential architects of his time, and his proposal was part of a larger project to give the city a more grand and functional cityscape.
However, the city chose not to build this new town hall, but instead purchased the Bondeska Palace in 1730 to use as a town hall. Carlberg's proposal for a new town hall is thus an interesting example of architectural ideas that did not become reality but which nevertheless reflect the changes and ambitions that existed for Stockholm as a city during this time.
