In the photograph we see the Monaco Grand Prix in 1959. The race started with the French driver Jean-Marie Behra in a Ferrari with starting number 46. To his left was Jack Brabham in a Cooper-Climax, with starting number 24.
The Monaco Grand Prix is one of the world's most prestigious and iconic Formula 1 races, known for its narrow city circuit through the streets of Monte Carlo. The race has been running since 1929 and embodies a unique combination of technical precision, glamor and motorsport history.
The picture was taken by Kary Lasch, a Swedish photographer with a unique international career. He portrayed royalty, artists and movie stars, but also racing's greatest moments. His original works sell at auction for significant sums and have been exhibited at Fotografiska, cementing his position as one of the most important photographers of the 20th century.
