Painted for the Jubilee
The painting was not created as a standalone seascape, but formed part of a commission for eight large oil paintings for Gothenburg’s Jubilee Exhibition in 1923. Hägg worked on the series from 1918 to 1922, and it was shown in the exhibition’s maritime pavilion – a temporary stage for the city’s story of the sea.

The story behind the motif

Canvas with a beautiful oil painting of a bank fishing fleet from the 1860s. The painting was created in 1921 by Jacob Hägg for the Jubilee exhibition in Gothenburg in 1923.

The painting hung together with Hägg's other large works in Property of the Maritime Museum in the maritime pavilion. The anniversary exhibition in Gothenburg was arranged to celebrate the city's 300th anniversary.

We deliver worldwide and always offer free shipping! Depending on the country you are shipping to, delivery may involve certain customs duties and taxes – no customs duties or taxes apply to deliveries within the EU or Norway.

Delivery time is normally around 5–7 business days within the Nordic countries, as we handcraft our canvas artworks in our factory in Sweden, and the canvas fabric also needs to dry before we stretch it over a wooden frame and ship it to you.

If you order from Norway, your order will be delivered with Fedex; to Sweden and the rest of the world with DHL. Your package is normally delivered to your nearest pickup point!
