Ottilia Adelborg created Prinsarnes blomsteralfabet in 1892 and followed it two years later with Blomstersiffror. In both works, letters and numbers are transformed into small botanical worlds—learning, illustration, and imagination within the same image.
This makes the combination unusually natural. The motifs arise from the same artistic idea and the same period, yet they have a different rhythm: the letters of the alphabet meet the playful forms of the numbers. Together, they also say something about Adelborg’s role as a pioneer of Swedish children’s book and illustration art.
