Eight feet of forest
The archive’s own caption is unusually precise: it notes a Douglas fir with a diameter of up to eight feet—approximately 2.4 metres. This small measurement turns the photograph into a trace of a time when Swedish emigrants became part of the forestry workforce in the western United States.
