The story behind the motif
Poster with a beautiful drawing of the Svenska Högarna lighthouse from 1873. The following year, 1874, a lighthouse tower was erected in the Stockholm archipelago, in agreement with this drawing. The iron lighthouse was approximately 18.5 m high and consisted of an "open pillar tower in iron", i.e. a "Heidenstammare", equipped with lantern and lens. The lighthouse was manufactured at Ludvigsbergs Verkstad in Stockholm.
On the picture we see the texts: "Svenska Högarna lighthouse. Drawing for an iron Lighthouse. Lens apparatus of 2nd order with white and red light. To be erected on Svenska Högarna within Stockholm's division of the northern Lot district."
Signed by Stockholm and the Four Engineer Office in November 1873 by von Heidenstam.
