The story behind the motif

You can see the last light of the sun over the water and the wind in the reeds. The work is called Summer night, lifting ducks and was painted in 1901.
Bruno Liljefors is Sweden's all-time best-known nature painter. During his time as a student at the Academy of Arts, he became good friends with Anders Zorn, a friendship that would last a lifetime.
A more unknown side of Bruno Liljefors is his career as a variety artist and elite gymnast specializing in bars. He was very athletic and performed at both the Sveasalen and the Royal Opera with high class.
