The story behind the motif
Poster with an old illustration of the Strömbadet which was inaugurated in 1882 at Strömmen in Stockholm.
Strömbadet was a large bathhouse complex that offered the city's residents an elegant waterside bathhouse. The building is an excellent example of the eclecticism that characterizes the end of the 19th century, where different stylistic influences are mixed to create an impressive and functional structure.
The building played an important role in the emerging health trend during this time and was part of Stockholm's investment in public bathhouses and other similar facilities. Although the building is no longer in use, Strömbadet remains a monument to the grand architecture that marked Stockholm's public buildings during this era.
