The story behind the motif

Poster with a cool picture of a group of tinsmiths on the roof of Stockholm's City Hall in 1949. The work was not for those afraid of heights and at the top of the crown we see a person hanging with one leg over one of the metal bars that hold the crown in place.

The city hall was inaugurated in 1923 on the 400th anniversary of Gustav Vasa's entry into Stockholm. It had taken 15 years to build and was the masterpiece of renowned architect Ragnar Östberg. The building is seen by many as a symbol of Sweden and its capital and has become internationally known, not least because of the annual Nobel celebrations.
