The story behind the motif

A beautiful drawing with the heraldic coat of arms for the province of Småland from the 19th century. 

The coat of arms shows a red lion holding a crossbow against a golden background, a symbol of strength and defensive will. The lion represents power and courage, while the crossbow connects to Småland's historic fight for freedom.

Småland is known for its large forests and has cities such as Jönköping, Växjö and Kalmar. Kalmar Castle played an important role during the Kalmar Union, and the landscape is also known for the great emigration to America in the 19th century. Småland's robust and independent population also has a long tradition of craftsmanship and innovation
