The story behind the motif

Rugby, a ball sport originating in Great Britain, has grown to become a popular global sport. Despite this, rugby had a limited presence in Sweden during the 1940s. It was only in the 1970s that rugby slowly began to grow in popularity in the country, thanks in part to the influence of foreign students and expatriates and through the formation of the Swedish Rugby Union. Since then, rugby has continued to develop in Sweden.
