The story behind the motif
The Swedish ship M/S Kungsholm at the port of Gothenburg. The ship belonged to the shipping company Svenska Amerika Linien, which was founded by Dan Broström. They took passengers to, among other places, New York and were the pride of Gothenburg.
M/S Kungsholm was built in 1953 and in the background you can see the silhouette of the northern Guldheden, which began to be built on in 1945.
Gothenburg was founded as a city by King Gustav II Adolf in the 17th century . The name itself originally comes from the fact that Gothenburg was a fortress on the Göta river.
