The story behind the motif

Poster with an illustrated advertising poster from the 1930s. On the poster we see different cheeses together with words such as Nutritious , Healthy and Good . The image also features the text: Cheese is worth more than it costs, which can be the main argument for consuming this wonderful commodity.

From the 1870s the name Hushållsost begins to appear in advertisements and the oldest recipe for the cheese is recorded in 1901. The farming population's own cheese continued to be made in homes and for sale in shops until the 1930s, but in parallel grew from 1900 into the dairies' production range .
