The story behind the motif

View of Atlas and Rörstrand along the Karlberg Canal in Stockholm in 1896. Kungsholmen is in the foreground. In the picture we see the large industrial facilities that Vasastan was so famous for. Several residents of Kungsholmen rowed over to Vasastan every day to get to their jobs at the industries. On the Kungsholmen side, we see large logs stacked on top of each other.
