The story behind the motif
Poster with a unique photograph from the icing in Jönköping on January 15, 1929. On this day, a strong northerly wind blew and the temperature was around minus 10 degrees. The lake lacked an ice cover, which resulted in water splashing onto the railway yard at Jönköping station.
In the picture we see tracks 3 and 4 where the middle platform is covered by 25-30 centimeters of ice. On the evening of the 15th, the telegraph line on the outside of track 4 also collapsed. This was a common line for both the railway and the telegraph office. We can see the downed telephone line in the background of the photo.
