The story behind the motif

Poster with the historic building proposal that became Helsingborg's lighthouse and pilot house, dated to the year 1888. The drawing includes more views and detailed floor plans. 

During the 19th century, many lighthouses around Sweden and Europe were modernized to become more efficient in guiding ships. Lighthouses were important to the Swedish merchant fleet and international shipping, and helped to improve sea lanes and trade routes during the 19th century.
