The story behind the motif
Poster with a topographical map of Gotland during the earlier part of the 19th century. The map was drawn by lieutenant G. Dahlström at the field survey brigade.
A lot happened on Gotland during the 19th century. Among other things, the island became a popular tourist destination among Swedish society through Princess Eugénie, who lived in Västerhejde on the western part of the island.
