The story behind the motif

An old map of Gothenburg's southern archipelago and Göta Älv and surroundings. The map was originally drawn up in 1654 by Kettil Classon Felterus. It was later copied by CF Ehrensvärd 1782.

On the map we see everything from Amundön, Billdal in the south to Hisingen in the north. In between we see Gothenburg, its coastal strip and archipelago with everything from Hovås, Askim, Önnered, Fiskebäck, Frölunda to Brännö, Styrsö and Vrångö.

On the map we see the text : "Extract af geogr. charta over Elfsborgs lähn to show in particular the outlet of Giöta älf and the archipelago at and around Gothenburg with the most famous islands and islets located there. : Written and entered by forwarded words. the surveyor Kittil Classon Felterus year 1654; at the request of the Royal Land Survey Office duly extracted in 1751. Copied d. 27 martii 1782 by CF Ehrensvärd"
