The story behind the motif
Poster with a picture from 1943 of Evert Taube (1890-1976) who is one of Sweden's most famous troubadours of all time. He was also a renowned writer, composer and artist. What many do not know is that Taube was also an Argentine citizen and an untitled nobleman of the Taube family.
Taube is counted as one of Sweden's national poets, which is a well-known and appreciated poet who, more than others, is considered to represent national values. Taube produced over 200 songs in his career and it is for these that he is best known.
In the picture we see Taube sitting in his sailboat Sjösala. He playing a lute and smoking a cigarette.
