The story behind the motif
A beautiful drawing with it heraldic coat of arms for the Dalarna region from the 19th century.

The coat of arms, with its two crossed valley arrows in gold on a blue background, symbolizes freedom for the valley people. The valley willow, used by the local population since the Middle Ages, has long been a symbol of the region's independent spirit. The coat of arms also has a ducal crown above the arrows to mark Dalarna's status as a duchy, a title that can be awarded to members of the Swedish royal family. This symbolism reflects both the historical identity of Dalarna and its importance in Swedish cultural history, often associated with ideas of nationalism and independence during the 19th century.

The text above the coat of arms reads: Dalarnes Vapen. At the bottom left it says: "Sweden's National and Country Coat of Arms. Established by the Royal Majesty. After drawings by Prof. M. AD. Hildebrandt in Berlin. Published by Carl Arvid Klingspor."
