The story behind the motif

Östra Hamngatan in 1912 before the canals were rebuilt. On the left in the picture we see the Börshuset, the Stock Exchange, on Gustav Adolfs torg. The stock exchange is one of Gothenburg's most historic buildings and is today the city council's meeting room. It also serves as the city's major representative building.
