The story behind the motif

Poster with a motif of a man on cross-country skis, whose gaze is directed over the majestic mountain landscape of Abisko. With a map in hand, he seems to be navigating through the winter-clad landscape. Abisko is located in northern Sweden near the border with Norway and the place offers a variety of cross-country skiing tracks that attract enthusiasts from near and far.

One of the most memorable events connected with cross-country skiing in Abisko occurred in 1922, when the first cross-country skiing competition was organized in the area. The competition attracted participants from far and wide and helped put Abisko on the map as a prominent cross-country skiing destination.
