The story behind the motif
Aerial view of the transatlantic passenger ship S/S Drottningholm. The ship was owned by Svenska Amerika Linien between 1920-1946. In 1925 Greta Garbo could be seen walking on the ship's passenger deck during her journey from Sweden to America and during World War II the ship was used by the Red Cross to transport prisoners and wounded. Not least during the prisoner exchanges in Gothenburg in 1943-1944 when more than 10,000 prisoners were exchanged.
Photographer: Unknown | Created: 1920-1946.
