Drawn During the Preparedness Years
When the navy’s training schooners Gladan and Falken were commissioned in 1944, the Second World War was still under way. They were designed by naval director Tore Herlin, who later became particularly associated with these two vessels. By 1968, their sailing-based seaman’s training had already been under way for more than two decades.
