The story behind the motif

Poster featuring the beautiful painting Lady in a Boat by Albert Edelfelt from 1886. The painting depicts a woman in a beautiful dress sitting in a boat on still water. The beautiful colors of the painting suggest that the sun has begun to set over the horizon.

Albert Edelfelt was one of the first Finnish artists to achieve international fame. As a 19-year-old, Edelfelt went to Antwerp in 1873 to study history painting. He then continued his painting studies in Paris, where in 1800 he received, among other things, a medal for the painting Ett barns likfärd (1879).
