Three little princes in the title
The title referred to the three little princes in the royal family: Gustaf Adolf, Wilhelm and Erik. When Ottilia Adelborg’s alphabet was published in 1892, they were between three and ten years old. The following year, the book won a prize at the World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago—an unusual international success for a Swedish ABC book.

The story behind the motif

Poster with, perhaps Sweden's most beloved alphabet of all time, namely the Princes' flower alphabet by Ottilia Adelborg. Ottilia drew the illustration in 1892 and is a famous Swedish artist and writer who has become known as the author of the Swedish children's book.

The flower alphabet of the princes also became a Christmas calendar and book with a rhyme for each letter. In 1894, she also published the poster Blomstersiffror med rime, which was just as loved.
