The Resort Left Half-Finished
Saltholmen became a seaside resort at the pace of the tramway. When the line was extended in 1906–08, the strait between Långedrag and Vässingsö was filled in, while a park, a cold-water bathhouse and a hot-water bathhouse were also laid out. The grand plan for the area was never fully completed – but the café was added as early as 1915.

The story behind the motif

Beautiful Saltholmen in Gothenburg in 1912.

Saltholmen is a peninsula on the southern coast of the Älvsborgsfjord in Gothenburg. At the beginning of the 20th century, among other things, a cold bath house was built here, which can be seen on the left in the picture. On the right we see a tram pulling up.

Viktor Balck, "the father of Swedish sports" inaugurated Saltholmen's thermal baths in 1908 before the Olympics in London. The Swedish national swimming team would use Saltholmen's hot tub as a training pool.
