The story behind the motif

A beautiful painting from 1865, a honeymoon was depicted on a sunny summer day in the Hardangerfjord. The artist Johan Fredrik Eckersberg was a recognized talented landscape painter and had great influence in the transition from romanticism to realism both as an artist and as a teacher at his own art school in Oslo.
