A Sketch Became a Success
A small pencil sketch from Turner's first trip to Venice in 1819 became the seed of the painting, but it truly took shape after his return in 1833. When he exhibited it at the Royal Academy in 1835, it was met with great acclaim—a travel memory that had been allowed to mature for more than a decade.

The story behind the motif

Turner is best known for his Romantic landscape paintings , the style of which can be said to have laid the foundation for Impressionism. His paintings are among the world's most valued. There is a 2014 movie called Mr. Turner and is a dramatization of the life of the great, if eccentric, British painter.

If you order from Norway, your order will be delivered with Fedex; to Sweden and the rest of the world with DHL. Your package is normally delivered to your nearest pickup point!
