The story behind the motif
This poster features a vintage 1896 advertisement for Pol Roger, a distinguished Champagne house established in 1849 in Épernay, France.
As one of the few remaining family-owned champagne producers, Pol Roger is celebrated as Winston Churchill's preferred champagne. In tribute to Churchill upon his passing in 1965, Pol Roger honored him by adorning all bottles sold in the UK with a black mourning border, marking a unique homage to the iconic statesman.
