The story behind the motif
Poster with August Strindberg's painting Vita Märrn II. The motif represents a sea mark called the white marren and stands on a cliff in the Stockholm archipelago at the southern entrance. The work was sold to the National Museum in Sweden for SEK 5.1 million in 1999.
August Strindberg (1849-1912) was a Swedish writer, playwright and artist. He is considered one of Sweden's most important writers, internationally known primarily as a playwright. Several of his works are considered classics in Swedish literature.
