The story behind the motif
This poster captures the essence of the iconic Twentieth Century Limited, the New York Central steam locomotive that epitomized luxury rail travel between New York City and Chicago, Illinois, from 1920 to 1950. Touted as the world's most famous train, it offered an opulent journey experience for the elite and business travelers along the scenic "Water Level Route."
The origin of the phrase "red carpet treatment" is attributed to this train, where passengers were welcomed aboard by walking on a specially designed, deep red carpet. Onboard amenities included barber services and secretarial assistance, setting a standard for luxury travel.
Black collection are selected motifs where we replaced the white passepartout with a black one to highlight the motif in a modern and unique way.
Photographer: Unknown | Created: 1920-1950.
