Karin’s Art in the Watercolour
When Carl Larsson painted this in 1906, the watercolour also became a document of Karin Larsson’s own art: her tapestry De fyra elementen from 1903–04 is included in the work. The couple also took part early in planning the interiors of Thielska Galleriet, where the painting later became part of the collection.

The story behind the motif

Canvas with the painting Azaleas, created by Carl Larsson in 1906.

In the painting, Car Larsson's wife Karin is seen in motion in front of the pink flower Azalea. A loom can be seen in the background, which shows Karin's artistic work with an abstract patterned textile in vivid colors. Karin was a skilled artist and designer, mainly in textile art and interior design. She played a significant role in creating the unique and idyllic atmosphere of Larsson's home and studio by creating textile patterns for curtains, furniture and embroidery.

Carl Larsson is one of Sweden's most beloved artists of all time, known for his characteristic watercolors that celebrate an idyllic family life.

We deliver worldwide and always offer free shipping! Depending on the country you are shipping to, delivery may involve certain customs duties and taxes – no customs duties or taxes apply to deliveries within the EU or Norway.

Delivery time is normally around 5–7 business days within the Nordic countries, as we handcraft our canvas artworks in our factory in Sweden, and the canvas fabric also needs to dry before we stretch it over a wooden frame and ship it to you.

If you order from Norway, your order will be delivered with Fedex; to Sweden and the rest of the world with DHL. Your package is normally delivered to your nearest pickup point!
