Fighter Turned Reconnaissance Aircraft
This 1948 photograph captures a period of transition: the J 9 had been given a new life as a reconnaissance aircraft. At F 3, the S 9C variant was fitted with a fixed oblique camera in the space behind the pilot—a makeshift solution that also introduced low-level reconnaissance using smaller, faster aircraft.

The story behind the motif

Two J9 fighter planes from F3 Malmen fly in rote over Lake Roxen in 1948. The J9 fighter plane was used as a reconnaissance plane by the flotillas F3 and F11 at this time. Lake Roxen is located between Linköping and Norrköping.
