The image could change during development
René Le Bègue used gum printing, in which pigments were mixed into the light-sensitive surface and the photographer could work on the image during development. The photograph was therefore not fixed at the moment the shutter was released. The technique allowed art photographers to shape tone, surface and expression after exposure—more like a graphic working sheet than an ordinary photograph.

The story behind the motif

René Le Bègue was a French photographer who lived between 1857–1914. He is best known for his photographs of undressed and nude women that were printed on paper in an experimental way to get a graphic and artistic expression.

The camera was a relatively new invention and became a popular medium for many artists to experiment with during this time period. Complex printing techniques were explored that imitated other graphic arts. Le Bègue has chosen a clear orange pigment to manipulate the photograph with to bring out similarities with a chalk drawing. This photo was taken in 1904 .

Delivery time is normally around 5–7 business days within the Nordic countries, as we handcraft our canvas artworks in our factory in Sweden, and the canvas fabric also needs to dry before we stretch it over a wooden frame and ship it to you.

If you order from Norway, your order will be delivered with Fedex; to Sweden and the rest of the world with DHL. Your package is normally delivered to your nearest pickup point!
